August Kesseler

Assmannshausen

Weingut August Kesseler is a member of the VDP, one of 35 VDP winegrowers in the Rheingau. Their origin lies in Assmannshausen in the lower Rheingau, where the Rhine valley becomes narrower and the vineyards steeper.

On the steep soils, characterised by quartzite and clay slate, the predominant grape variety around Assmannshausen is Pinot Noir. However, they have not only specialised in the production of high-quality red wines (Pinot Noir), but also have first-class Riesling sites in the lower and middle Rheingau.

Kesseler only produces premium wines - even in the entry level price segment. What is the reason for this? They only own classified VDP.ERSTE LAGEN® (Premier Cru) and VDP.GROSSE LAGEN® (Grand Cru) vineyards and quality standards are high across the board.
